We source local and seasonal produce; At this time of the year there is some wonderful produce available which Sean uses to create our Summer dishes; Lamb (from local farms), wonderful free range Pork & local Rose Veal, an abundance of soft fruits and vegetables including Rutland water strawberries and raspberries. Cucumber, marrow & courgette from our kitchen garden at the Red Lion Inn. There is also superb samphire from the Norfolk coasts, which we use to accompany water Rutland water trout and organic Irish Salmon. As well some great seafood which we source from ports all around the UK, with diver caught scallops and native lobster from Cornwall as well Hake and Pollock which we use in our 'Olive Branch Fish and Chips, tomato sauce and minted peas'.
We create wonderful pub classics including 'Olive Branch Fish and Chips, tomato sauce and minted peas' and 'Chargrilled Rib Eye Steak, tomato, mushrooms, chips and bernaise' alongside some more 'restaurant style' dishes created using the very best available ingredients such as 'Curried Monkfish, parmentier potatoes, garden peas, pickled radish', and 'Loin of local Lamb, rosemary fondant potato, spinach, asparagus, chill & redcurrant jam'.
We serve a selection of sandwiches on our own Pumpkin Seed loaf across the bar at lunchtimes as well our set priced lunch menu on the blackboard.
